They are so many pharmacists passing out from universities now-a-days that i think the question of "how to become a pharmacist?" has changed to "how to become a successful pharmacist?"
INCREASE YOUR KNOWLEDGE
We have always heard that knowledge is power but in the case of pharmacy it actually is quiet accurate. Increase you knowledge to a whole new level , know the interactions, get to know your patients , make knowledge your only strength and most of all learn how to convey your knowledge to others at their level of understanding.
IGNORE THE NEGATIVITY
As "Doctor of pharmacy" is a new emerging field in most of the countries they have to face alot of negativity and degradation, the only way to avoid this is to ignore it, improve your skills and prove your self with actions rather than words
CHOOSE THE RIGHT AREA OF WORK INTEREST
Carefully choose where you want to work, Its always better to do a few internships before actually choosing your final job. Its always better to work in the environment where you are most comfortable in , rahter it be a hospital, clinic, university or industry.
BE POSITIVE
This might be a hard thing to do but it is always better to keep a positive attitude towards people and work, if you have a negative attitude things will just get more and more difficult for you. You don't have to be extra-cheerful or extra-ordinarily happy, just have a positive approach towards change
QUIT BEING OVER DEFENSIVE
You are a proffesionnal person, who has a doctorate degree, you don't need to be over defensive about yourself, just go with the flow. Prove yourself with actions, in the practical world actions will leave you in a much better place than words can ever do.
BE CONFIDENT
Be confident and believe in yourself. Here we are talking of being confidient not over confident, being over confident can clearly destroy your reputation, make sure you know where you have to draw the line.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
Since your a pharmacist and interacting with people is literally unavoidable, develop your public speaking skills. Let it be with a patient, a colleague , a co-worker, other proffessionals or a costumer, communicate in a natural and convincing way, spread a friendly and positive vibe around.
INFERIORTY COMPLEX
Most pharmacist now are suffering from an inferiority complex and its ok to admit it, it isn't as bad as people make you feel about it. The only thing that you have to realize that every one has their tiny workspace and you are what you are, no one can ever replace you.
Its ok to prove yourself because you have the ability to do SO :) and "VOILA" you have a succesful, bright and convincing pharmacist, be proud of who you are , what you are and what you can become :)
"PEACE"
